Hello chaps!

I just thought I'd drop in to wish all of you fine people the very best for the coming Christmas season, and to update you on my own affairs, such as they are.
To get the worst out of the way first, our daughter Sharon (our middle child) committed suicide in July, having been mentally-ill for years. Her three children had previously been taken into care, but I'm happy to say that the youngest, aged 4, is now living with his father, the 9 year-old boy has been permanently adopted by his foster parents, and my wife and I are going through the courts to gain permanent custody of our 13 year-old granddaughter Claire. As you can imagine, we don't ever take the easy option :-) We just don't want to see her being shuttled around the Care system, and we love her to bits. The inquest into my daughter's death only concluded last week, which is why I haven't written about it before.
I was diagnosed with a cancer on my leg a couple of months ago, the cancer has now been removed, in the process it was discovered I had heart disease, but again I'm happy to say that that the cancer has now been confirmed as completely removed and that the heart disease is low-risk as long as I keep taking the tablets. Get any strange spot checked out people - mine was there 2 years and I thought nothing of it.
I fondly remember the great fun I had with our trans-Atlantic cousins back in the day, and I hope very much that it still continues. I regret I don't play anything on-line now, as I STILL haven't found a way to make BF42 work, the only game I've ever really loved.
The memsahib and I cruised into St Petersburg, Russia last year, the first time I ever got to Satan's home :-) although we've holidayed in Latvia, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and Germany. It was fab! What a place. We've been on another cruise to Spain and Portugal this year, and holidayed to Poland with my brother and his wife.
We're having Claire to stay for Xmas, her younger brother going back to his foster parents for Xmas with them, so with my other daughter living locally with her family and my son on leave from the Army with his family, it will hopefully be a lot of fun and a chance to move on.
I wish all of you the best for 2015, and remember that even in the blackest night there is still hope.

Good to hear from the gang!!! :You_Rock_Emoticon:

It was something called a squamous basal cell carcinoma Shadow. It had been there two years and I didn't think anything of it until I went to see a dermatologist about something else entirely, he took one look and said: "That's a tumour. I'll book you in and cut it out." Blimey. Still, gone now and I've got the T-shirt to say so!

I wish you all the very bestest and fabbest Christmas! :-)

PS - I'll have a look at the '42 stuff again sometime, thanks.

Thank you for the update Major. Just as others have expressed, sorry to hear about your loss, but glad to hear that you beat the C!. Watch out for those Russian cigarettes that you are fond of though!

Worm - also glad to see that you are alive and well (hopefully well)
